4 reasons why Autumn is the BEST time to go to Cornwall

With the unique tropical climate Spring comes early to Cornwall with daffodils blooming in in January and camellias and magnolias in mid-February, hence many of its beautiful gardens open to the public (and if you are a garden lover you should know that Himalayan azaleas, rhododendrons, and Daphne are at their best in April and May!).

August usually brings good weather, but with that million of tourists and the narrow roads clogged with traffic. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great time to go but I would choose another month if I possibly could.

Autumn is our favourite time of year there, the crowds have gone, the weather is usually very pleasant indeed due to the Gulf Stream keeping the area temperate. The carpets of heather adorning the cliff tops and coastal path are a delight. Winter is coming, but the nights are still light, the sea has warmed up over the summer months and there is still so much to do and see as places are still open for business.

So if you are lucky enough to have some holiday time still available and after the holiday season, you need … well, some proper holiday head up to Cornwall to see the county at its most glorious with the added benefits of these four facts:

1. Most of the tourist are gone

I know it sounds terrible, but it is so true. No need to wait for parking space or queue in the restaurant – just think about it … and everything is fully opened.

2. The sea is warm

Whether a spot of surfing, kayaking or general paddling the water temperatures are some of the highest recorded. And judging by last year the season is likely to last even longer.

3. The ‘Poldark’ effect

Are you feeling sad that the latest series of Poldark have finished? I cannot promise that when you come to Cornwall you will see Ross Poldark (or Adrian Turner) but you can visit all the beautiful places where the series are filmed, stunning views guaranteed!

4. Accommodation is much more reasonable

Out of the main season, prices can be as low as half of what you could pay in July and August and we have just the place for you.
